Children are always welcome in church at FUMC of Springboro, no matter what their age. They also can participate in services, with younger children being acolytes and older children being liturgists or even joining the adult choir on occasion. Sunday School children often sing for the congregation and all children are invited to participate in the Waving of the Palms on Palm Sunday.
We particularly encourage youth aged 5th grade through 12th grade to attend worship on the first Sunday of the month, when there is Communion. We will not hold Sunday school for these children on these Sundays because we feel very strongly that they should learn how to worship and should partake in Communion. We encourage all children to participate in worship at some point, even the youngest, but we will offer Sunday school for children ages 2 through 4th grade every Sunday. We understand that children may sometimes go to worship instead of Sunday School and we want them to do this. Therefore, we will honor attendance for the children whether they are in Sunday school or worship. Children just need to make sure they sign in at the check in station so we have a record of them. If a child visits another church due to traveling or going with friends, they can just bring a bulletin from the church they attended and they will receive “credit” for going.
The purpose is to develop healthy habits of going to church and worshiping. Another option for children is Junior Church – Sunday mornings during 10:35 service. We begin in worship and then after the children’s moment, go to children’s church with Miss Kim.
There is a Nursery for the youngest children during both Sunday church services and on the first and last Saturday evenings of the month.
Here are some pictures showing the church decorated for Christmas and some of the children and families participating in or attending the children's Christmas Eve service.
