Winter's finally here but so far it's been mild compared to other years, as you can see from this picture of the courtyard.

Here are the pictures from the children's Christmas Eve service. You won't find a more photogenic bunch than our boys and girls.  As usual, click on the first thumbnail to enlarge it, view the picture, then just click on "next" to proceed through all of them.

We share our love and sympathy with the Youngs in the loss of Jim’s mother this week and with the Lemmerbrocks in the loss of Courtney’s father this week.

Thank you for your continued prayers for David Mabee. They are working! He has improved quite a bit since Tuesday and is now at his daughter Erin’s home in Columbus. They are now hoping for him to gain enough strength to move back to Springboro.

May God’s grace and peace surround you today.

Here is Pastor Suzanne's newsletter for Epiphany and January:

Happy New Year!

I hope that you have had a wonderful Advent and Christmas season filled with opportunities to treasure the most important gifts of faith, family, and friendship.

We now enter into the season of Epiphany. It begins with the arrival of the wise men at the cradle of the Christ child. They don’t make it there for Jesus’ birth itself. They arrive 12 days later, which gives us the 12 Days of Christmas. As we celebrate their arrival on January 6th, we realize that even in Jesus’ birth, God called Gentiles from the East to come and worship His son. Jesus would not only be the Savior of the people of Israel, but a Savior and a light to all nations.

The word Epiphany comes from the Greek meaning a manifestation, or a showing. When Christians talk about Epiphany we are describing the fact that God shows Himself to us in Jesus Christ. An Epiphany is also a moment of revelation or insight. As we see this little child and experience all of the events connected to his birth, angels and shepherds, wise men and a star, it dawns on us that this child was not just born to save the world, but was born to save us from our sin and give us new life.

Another image for Epiphany is that of light. As Jesus Christ is born into the world, it is like a new day. As we respond to the Epiphany within our own lives, we commit ourselves to living in a new way, in the light of Jesus Christ.

Epiphany runs through mid February and ends with a celebration of the Transfiguration of Christ. Throughout this season our worship focus will be “Living In the Light!” We will discuss what it means to live in the light of Jesus Christ as faithful followers. I look forward to growing in faith with you this Epiphany!

Blessings!

Pastor Suzanne
