Lay Leader Report I have the great privilege of serving on three teams within our Ohio River Valley District. Last month, we briefly looked at two of those teams. This month, we’ll take a look at the third team on which I serve. We’ll also have an update on the fitness challenge issued by Bishop Ough. When our building project of several years ago completed, then District Superintendent Rev. Tom Hanover asked me to serve on the Wilmington District Board of Church Location and Building. That was my first assignment on a District team. A few years later, all of the districts within our West Ohio Conference were realigned, to reduce the number of districts. Rev. Hanover asked me to serve on the transition team that pulled our new Ohio River Val-ley District together from the previous Wilmington, Cincinnati and Dayton South Districts. Watching and participating as our new district was formed was an eye-opening experience. I also met several folks from the Cincinnati area who are my friends to this day. Out of this experience, I was asked to join the Location and Building board for our new district. I have served with that team since its inception. We meet in person 4 times per year at varied locations within our District to discuss building related issues with local churches. I have been in District meetings in Sabina in northeast Clinton County, North Bend is southwest Hamilton County and about 50 other churches in between, either on Location and Building, or Lay Speaking assignments. I am very blessed to have seen so much and have been in so many churches. I see the Holy Spirit at work in our churches, from the very small in rural Clinton County to the very large in Cincinnati.
Happy Easter!
